Subject: Will Farrington Smokey Valley Ranch - A fine drainage and irrigation ditch 4 1/2 miles long, 12 f. wide, 2 ft. deep,
designed by Farrington to carry water from the North and South Twins Rivers. There are 31 concrete drops or boxes similar
to that shown in the foreground. Water can be diverted to fields from these boxes when gates are emplaced as needed. This
is a high type of water development project subsidized partially by Nye County ACA. - Oct. 31, 1944 - C.E.B.

These are the only five cattle of this beef breed in this entire county and region. They are highly adaptable to the
pasture system used by Farrington. They are good foragers when placed on Forest Range and climb to the highest pinnacles to

Subject: Earl Carl Ranch - Smokey Valley - Ranch home 70 miles from Tonopah of Earl Carl "Little Home", son in law of
Will Farrington at Willett. His brick home is one of the old buildings in Millett. the old barn on this ranch site was
built during the Stage Line days (probably during 1860's or 1870's). the numerous artesian wells on this ranch were drilled
by Fred Ahlers, employed by A.B. Millett. many artesian wells were drilled in the valley during 1900 to 1917. - June 11, 1944 - C.E.B.
Subject: Willett, Nevada - Smokey Valley - Gold, silver and lead mining in the Toiyabe Mts. to the northwest and the
Toquema Mts. to the east created a boom in 1906-1907 in Smokey Valley area. Millett was founded by Albin Bradbury Millett -
He built this big store, the blacksmith shop, owned a ranch at Millett, organized the townsite, owned the ranch which Will
Farrington purchased later (on Twin Rivers) and drilled many artesian wells on his and other ranches in the Valley. He
operated 3 eight horses freight teams between his Manchases a carload of Carnation Milk and such items at one time. The
town of Millett declined after the earthquake in San Francisco in 1917-18. The shiny building in the background is the
