World War II Glide Bomb Tests at the Tonopah Army Air Field

Tonopah Army Air Field was one of many military centers created during WWII. Its mission was to train P-39 and B-24
pilots and crews. The Glide Bomb, a forerunner to the 21st century Smart Bomb, was also tested in secret in the Nevada desert.
Presented are the air filed history, archival films of the assembly and bomb tests, an interview with a team leader, films of
war drops, and a discussion with Nellis Air Force Base pilot on the evolution of Glide to Smart Bomb.
